The highest marine diversity on the planet, beautiful topside scenery and awesome underwater topography, makes Raja Ampat islands the closest place to heaven. To stand on the bow of your liveaboard sailing towards lush islands, inhabited by people whose lives are so different, really gives you the unbelievable feeling of freedom. There are a great variety of environments to cater for every diver’s taste and level: from wall to slopes, caves and canyons, seamounts, much diving, wrecks. There are more than 1500 smaller islands covering over 50,000 sq km. To see it all in one trip is impossible as there are thousands of possible dive sites. Cape Kri. Will see  large fish and to be enveloped by fish then roll in here, both desires will soon be satisfied.  Groupers, sharks, snappers, Napoleon wrasse, barracuda, dogtooth tuna, trevallies. They are all here in numbers.

Cape Kri is a great place to spot wobbegongs, the curious carpet shark, but you should also admire gorgonian fans to look for pygmy seahorses grasping its branches. Misol Island. Is located in the southern part of the Raja Ampat area and  is home to an astonishingly colorful reef-scene. Soft corals dress up slopes, walls and canyons in a colorful palette No big schools here but cuttlefish, pipefish, Indian lionfish, nudibranchs, soft corals and critters. Unmissable by night. The Jef Fam Group. Is in the central region of Raja Ampat, so it’s quite a large area with some impressive cabbage corals, sheet corals and mushroom corals What makes Jef Fam special is its diversity of marine encounters and  is the best place to find wobbegongs. You can also see huge giant clams, Spanish mackerel, great barracuda and manta rays. Manta Ridge. Is one of the best dive spots in Raja Ampat to regularly see mantas  in  impressive numbers, it is a popular central site, thanks to a cleaning station which delivers some awesome manta ray action to the few lucky enough to be there.  In current, may have to hook into place before enjoying the show which includes some black mantas, bumphead, parrotfish and turtles all unconcerned by the audience.

In Komodo your dream can come true. Komodo and Rinca are the only places where we can still find these Komodo Dragons in the wild. The Banda Sea is a vast expanse of water in eastern Indonesia. Best explored by liveaboard, the remote region includes the Banda Islands, Seram, Ambon, Wetar, Kai and Aru Islands.

Divers are treated to an explosion of marine life on the pristine reefs, as well as steep drop-offs, huge schools of fish, a plethora of pelagic species, sea mounts and critters galore. Enjoy a unique dive at Gunung Api volcano where sea snakes abound, and incredible pelagic encounters at the Lucipara atolls, where five seamounts rise up over a mile from the ocean floor, and which are also home to green turtle nesting sites. Expect to see schools of jacks and tuna, turtles, Napoleon wrasse, grouper, various species of rays, sharks, whales and dolphin. Ambon Bay is a premier muck diving location and one of the main reasons for photographers to visit. For the few that travel here, the rewards are immense. The dive sites range from black sand and rubble to jetties and wrecks, all home to a prolific marine life including but not limited to rhinopias, frogfish, octopus and seahorse. In contrast to the muck of the Bay, the clear water sites on the south and east coast offer a spectacular topography with seamounts, caves and archways adorned with soft corals. It’s at these you can expect to see larger pelagic species such as Napoleon wrasse, sharks, rays and grouper.

This area is finally beginning to open up and represents a new and exciting frontier for adventurous divers. The waters around this sparsely populated island play host to pristine, untouched reefs and an astounding biodiversity. While the waters are still relatively unchartered, a survey in 2005 suggested that Halmahera is comparable only to Raja Ampat - currently considered the most diverse habitat on earth - with at least 450 species of coral and over 800 species of fish recorded in just a few hours.

The Forgotten islands are part of the Maluku Tenggara which  is a 1.000 km chain of archipelagos running from East Timor to Western Papua. Undeveloped, distant from population centers and far off any beaten path, these “Forgotten Islands” have been largely isolated from the rest of the world.
