Milne Bay Itinerary OC(10nights)

Diving in the Milne Bay area will excite lovers of both pelagic fish and the smaller reef dwellers. Manta rays are seen regularly as well as hammerhead sharks and barracuda.
Milne Bay is also famous for it's muck diving. Critters sighted in this area can include ghost pipefish, spanish dancers, mantis shrimp, frogfish, juvenile batfish, mimic octopus, dwarf lionfish ... the list goes on and on.
The underwater topography is beautifully diverse, from shallow sandy bottoms or huge coral laden boulders, to wall dives that resemble underwater mountain ranges. Milne Bay diving is well rounded, with something for everyone.

South Coast New Britain diving is a wonderland of rare and unusual critters. Most of the diving is on fringing reefs and lagoons.
Around the Lindenhaven area, the contours of the Solomon Trench (the third deepest part of the world's oceans) come in very close. Critters that are regularly seen on the Lindenhaven dives are mimic octopus, frogfish, over 47 different varieties of ghost pipefish, jaw fish, cuttlefish, arrow crabs, orangutan crabs, leaf scorpion fish, rock mover wrasse, anemone fish, holothurians, banded shrimp, lionfish, scorpionfish, crocodile fish, soft coral crabs, flying gurnards, nudibranch of every description, bubble shells, cowry shells, garden eels, flatworms, spanish dancer and much more.

Rabaul diving features an abundance of macro critters, usually around various jetty's. Please note that we do not dive the wrecks in Rabaul. These are specialty dives and we recommend diving the wrecks with local operators.

New Hanover diving features coral gardens, bommies and wall dives in the passages. The channels are fantastic for drift diving, with large schools of fish, rays and shark patrolling the lush coral laden sides of the passages. Reefs in the New Hanover and Kavieng area feature a large and diverse variety of marine life, with a good mix of stunning underwater vistas to satisfy the wide angle photographer as well as lots of little critters, perfect for the macro enthusiast.
